Positive Incentives (History Buttons!)

8/22/2018

I just received my batch of 300 custom buttons from Cheapestbuttonsnet. I give these students as rewards, or when we play history quiz games or when I see a student do something nice. My students are obsessed and they try to earn all 12! They are very affordable, and while its hard to spend extra money so often on school supplies, I believe they are worth it. You can upload any image you want and the company fits them to size. Easy!

Note: This is NOT a sponsored post. I just love them!

Inexpensive Trophies to honor our student's Academic Achievements

I run the chess club and pentathlon clubs at school. Most sporting competitions students get honored with trophies or medals, so I love to provide that same honor to my students competing in academic competitions. I purchase trophies once a year from Trophy Depot for my Chess Club team. The Trophies themselves are reasonably priced, however shipping can be shockingly expensive. If you spend over 100 dollars you get free shipping and sometimes they send coupons or have sales, so check frequently. Its worth it.

Student incentives...buttons !

I rarely give out prizes. I used to give prizes on a regular basis but some students started only doing the "right" thing when an award was attached, so I stopped that. However, I do sometimes give out "history buttons" if students go above and beyond or dramatically improve their scores on difficult assignments or tests.

I order about 300 small 1" buttons at the beginning of the year. Some schools (with deep pockets) will expense these, ask your principal if you can get these paid for (typically $30-45 for 200-300 small buttons) "History buttons."
